Blogs: These pages are designated as blogs by the domains that run them, or they are hosted on popular blog platforms like Blogspot.
News: Many news pages aggregate stories from other sources, often with an original summary and a link to more information on another site. They frequently appear at the top of a search because the relevant content is more timely. Getting a link to your site will probably come in the form of a press release that they pick up.
Has Affiliate Links: Results in this category have links on their page that connect to an affiliate program. The page owner is paid for any sales they get for a 3rd party service/product through the links on their page. A pet training blog could have affiliate links to Petsmart.com, Petco.com, and GenuineDogGear.com.
Being in this category does not guarantee that the affiliate link is specifically for the domain that you searched.
.GOV /.EDU: Pages ending in these top-level domains (like irs.gov or cornell.edu) belong to government entities or educational institutions. They are traditionally more structured than commercial or individually-run pages, so getting a link from one to your own site could be challenging. However, they tend to be seen by Google as strong authorities, so they often rank higher on searches and pass along stronger “link juice.”
Forums: These pages are community forums, usually open to anyone to read but often requiring a sign-in to comment or update a post. Because forums are community-built content, they are usually the easiest route to add your own link back to your domain. In that vein, forums generally don’t pass as much link juice as other types of pages.
